The Monterey
Council #1465 of The Knights of Columbus was formed on February
6, 1910 and is among the oldest councils in California. Its
members come from all walks of life, ages, ethnicities,
political affiliations and professions, but all are practicing
Catholic men of strong moral character. Members are parishioners
of San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey, St. Angela Merici Church in
Pacific Grove, St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel at the Naval Postgraduate School
(NPS) in Monterey and other local Catholic
parishes of the Monterey Diocese. Many knights are involved with various ministries
of the church.
From the time of
its inception to current day, the Monterey Council has donated
its time and resources to raise funds for a wide variety of
charities and noble causes. Council events vary from organizing
and participating in blood drives, sponsoring local Catholic
students, sponsoring Catholic vocations, honoring our U.S.
military, food donations to the poor, youth activities and
fundraising for the Special Olympics and Gateway Center, just to
name a few.
